Mykkä jumala (literally The Numb God) is a novel by Finnish author Jyrki Vainonen.
It is a story about a young man, who wanted to uncover the mystery of his father's disappearance. He went to Brittany, a French province, where all locals are obsessed with birds, specifically, the cave-living kind of jackdaw.

I chose a jackdaw as a main metaphor for the cover. In my searchings I didn't manage to find that specific kind from the book, so I tried to invent my own, using a common jackdaw
as an example.

I wanted to make the cover immersive: to make a reader feel like they're looking
into the bird when they open the book.
And all the cover text is handwritten, to make it feel personal, like a diary.

Another prominent point of the story are the mills.
There are 14 of them, and for a fly-leaf I decided to compose a symbolic map.
